Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) formerly known as UP Technical University (UPTU) is one of the premier and largest technical universities in India. AKTU has been consistently ranked among the top 50 institutions of India. Currently, the university has an enrollment of more than 4,00,000 students in various programs across 756 AKTU affiliated colleges and institutions spanning over the entire UP state.
The most popular program at AKTU is B.Tech which is offered across 41 different specializations via JEE Mains and CUET UG entrance examinations. Apart from this, the university also offers various other affiliated programs such as B.Arch, B.Pharm, MBA, M.Tech, MCA, Ph.D., etc. In addition to this, the university also offers NBA-accredited programs such as B.Pharm, and M.Tech & M.Pharm at UG & PG level in 50+ affiliated/ associated engineering colleges of AKTU. Admissions at the APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University for UG and PG courses are based on the CUET entrance test. The university also accepts JEE Mains scores for B.Tech admissions and counselling will be done through UPTAC. Admission to UG courses such as B.Pharmacy/BHMCT/BFAD/BFA/BDes/BVoc will be based on CUET UG exam, conducted by NTA. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses such as M.Tech/M.Des/M.Pharm/MCA/M.Arch/M.Plan/MURP are required to appear in the CUET PG examination. While MBA admissions wil be based on CMAT scores followed by a GD/PI round conducted by the university.
For admission to AKTU PhD programs, the institution conducts a separate research-based entrance test followed by a personal interview round for the shortlisted candidates.

Admission to UG and PG programmes which do not require CUET results are entirely based on the aggregate in previous qualifying exams followed by a counselling round, conducted by AKTU's affiliated colleges.

The university has a fully functional university Industry Interface cell which is responsible for internship and placement opportunities for the students. The institution has maintained a 90% placement rate for the meritorious students accompanied with a fair salary package that ranges from INR 1LPA - 20 LPA. The placement cell is responsible for all placement related issues of the affiliated colleges.
